Modern Square Dance

For the LGBTQ+ Community

(All Inclusive Club)

Looking for a great socially active, fun and energetic activity, something outside of the bars or something that doesn’t require a dating or hook-up app? Do you want to get off the couch, away from the TV or computer, away from endless hours of Netflix, YouTube, TikTok or FaceBook? Are you looking for something that is as active as some moderate exercises and sports, but doesn’t require special equipment? Modern Square Dancing is the answer!

Modern Square Dancing isn’t like anything you might remember from Grade school or what you thought your grandparents were doing – though your grandparents might still be doing it in an upbeat and modern style! It’s a fantastic physical and mentally stimulating activity to keep you thinking and moving in a safe, judgement-free social environment.

Modern Square Dancing is now done to all musical genres: Top 40, Rock, Pop, Today’s Country, Classic Rock and anything that has a beat you can walk in rhythm to. You’re not in a barn with hay bales and banjoes, you’re in a nice clean climate-controlled dancehall with a hardwood dance floor, Ragon Hall, Pensacola Florida’s premier non-smoking, non-drinking dance facility located at: 2600 Stratford Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526

No special clothing, shoes or cowboy hats are required. It’s a casual affair these days. However, you may still see some who like to dress up for special occasions.

Modern Square Dancing for the LGBTQ+ is an all inclusive community open to everyone regardless of age, race, religion, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation. Couples, singles and families are welcome, including children 10 and older.

If you can walk or move at a moderate pace for 3 to 5 minutes at a time and follow the vocal commands (calls) given by the instructor (caller), you can square dance!

There’s so much more to say, but it’s better to come check it out yourself!

Open houses: Tuesdays 7 to 8:30pm May 7th and 14th 2024. Regular lessons every Tuesday thereafter.
